Tara Cooper, Founder & Principal

In September 2020, Tara founded the “Grace Group,” named in honor of her beloved Granny, who in her 100 years of life inspired all those around her with kindness and gifted storytelling. Prior to forming the Grace Group, Tara worked as an independent consultant and spent nearly fourteen years (2002-2016) in-house at Genentech, where she directed external and employee communication for emerging and established medicines within a $2+ billion business unit.

While at Genentech, she led public relations and served as primary spokesperson for medicines across every phase of development and regulatory milestone, including trial initiations, pivotal data announcements, FDA Advisory Committee hearings, FDA approval and post-approval communication. Tara has extensive experience leading product and corporate reputation issues with complex stakeholder management. She directed communication strategy on topics including clinical trial interruptions, data transparency, manufacturing, pricing, product recalls, product supply, distribution, and safety.

Since forming Grace Group, Tara and her talented team have helped clients ranging from pre Series A startups to global, publicly traded companies across a broad range of external and employee communications.

When not leading the Grace Group, she can be found hiking with her goldendoodle, trying out new recipes or restaurants, and traveling with her camera in tow.

Get to Know Our Team

We are former in-house communicators, big agency leaders, and journalists united in our passion for strategic communications. The Grace Group team includes a broad network of specialists including graphic designers, medical illustrators, science writers, and social media mavens.

Our consultants (except our interns!) each have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in healthcare communications. Nerds at heart, we dig into the science and obsess over the details of design and grammar. We read the trades and business outlets daily and stay in touch with reporters, because we know them, like them, and some of us were them.
